How to get to Chattern Hill Community Orchard

Bedfont Lakes Country Park 'South Side'
Challenge Road
Feltham
Ashford
TW15 1AX

Situated within the South Side site, this area is separated from the main park by the railway line and is only accessible via Challenge Road.

This hidden gem of a site also hosts Chattern Hill Lake, a vast array of flora and fauna, and a recently extended walk around the whole park. There is an off-lead dog exercise area as you enter the pedestrian gate (although current guidelines during the COVID-19 pandemic are for all dogs are kept on leads at the moment).

On foot

  1. When you turn onto Challenge Road from Feltham Road, there is a pedestrian access point almost immediately, at the fork of Challenge Road and Shield Road.

  2. Once through the metal gate, follow the path until it forks just after a metal fence.

  3. Turn right to follow a track between the metal fence and a wooden fence, and the orchard will soon be on your left.

Car parking

Parking on the road is very limited so we advise walking or cycling. Alternatively the 117 bus stops close by.

  1. Proceed down Challenge Road for 0.2 miles.

  2. Enter the blue gates on the left hand side and park where the road opens out into a rectangular tarmacked area.

  3. Proceed up the track, turning left where the tracks fork near a lake. The orchard will be on your right.
